TSMC to Recruit Over 3,000 Personnel in 2010

Owing to increasing contract orders resulting from the global economic recovery, Taiwanese TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation) is projected to recruit more than 3,000 people in 2009, in a bid to expand chip production capacity and develop state-of-art chip technologies, Taiwan's Commercial Times reported on January 15. Personnel to be recruited by the company include engineers and researchers in chip production and R&D segments, as well as personnel in the area of solar energy, lighting, marketing and management, according to the same source. Meanwhile, TSMC's local rival UMC (United Microelectronics Corporation) reportedly plans to hire around 300 new personnel in 2010 as well.
